Understanding and Improving Student Behavior - The purpose of this interactive session is to explore best practices as they relate to supporting struggling learners coping with behavioral challenges.  Using a Professional Learning Community (PLC) influenced format, the audience will be (re-)introduced to the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework that spans the broad continuum of supports ranging from those within the purview of general education to referral for special education.  By necessity, rules and regulations governing special education identification as well as other populations (e.g., 504 plans) in the State of Louisiana will be covered.  Given the broad spectrum of the topic areas, board members, school leaders, and instructional staff are all invited to participate.
